So I'm not really doing so well - I know it's only been a few days but normally you are good the first few days and then slip later. My problem is motivation and energy. Any one have any tips on having more energy? I get home from work and just can't seem to drag my butt to the gym or just out for a run - there is always some excuse and I just don't feel like I have the energy to. How are others doing?

Hi! I registered for the Womans' challenge today. My goal is to lose 14 pounds by the day of the Bryce Canyon thing. I'll keep walking and try to cut down on eating. Good luck to everyone. Mom

Hello, this is Marilyn. I hope this works. I'm new to all this. Melanie, I signed up for the Women's Weightloss Challenge. I figure another challenge to keep me moving can never hurt. I'm still trying to decide just what my goal is. Matt thinks it should be pounds because that's really the easiest to measure even though I might gain muscle --that's a big "might".

This is Marjorie. I have never done this before, so I hope I am doing it right. My fitness goal is to loose 15 lbs. by July 19th and to get rid of this baby belly fat. I hope I'm not being too unrealistic. Well, you have to start somewhere I guess. Let me know if there is anything specific I should be doing to accomplish my goal.
Another suggestion...
Here is a link to the woman's challenge - i've done this the past 2 years and it is actually quite fun. It helps you realize how few steps you take in a day especially considering you need 10,000 to maintain a healthy weight - no wonder I'm gaining weight :-) It's also kinda fun to enter your progress daily or weekly and see yourself move across virtual Amercia. It would be another nice motivation to getting in shape as well as training for the 5k. Here is the link: http://www.womenshealth.gov/woman/
We could even create a team if we wanted but that's not as much of a challenge. Maybe if we split it into 2 teams to compete against each other or something - just a thought. It starts Sunday - Mother's day, so register now.

The weight challenge
So I guess we are all posting our goals so here goes - my goal by the end date which is July 19, 2008. Is to be down 15 pounds and i'm not sure how many inches - i need to go home and do a quick measure tonight then I can update that. Also to just be firm and tight and look sweet in a swimsuit - vein I know I know, but eh.
THE GREAT WEIGHT CHALLENGE!!
So my sisters and I had our 1st Annual sisters retreat weekend last weekend. It was fun. We went to Lava Hot Springs, Idaho and just had a great relaxing weekend without any husbands or kids and all the sisters made it - even Gina from California. Anywho that is a seperate story all on it's own but at the end one sister mentioned doing a little weight challenge with the sisters - ya know just something to help get you motivated to eat right and work out and you would have a little buddy to help you - which always helps. So I thought that was a great idea and decided that we could use this blog (that I hardly ever use) as a way of communicating with that challenge. So now all my sisters, or the sisters that want to do the weight challenge, will have access to my blog and we can all share tips and status on how we are doing, etc. So here goes nothing :-)

Arches

So back in April my roommate Sarah said "Hey I hate boys and I want to get away this weekend would you go on a roadtrip with me if I paid for gas and you help pay for a hotel room?". I said sure. And the Arches trip was born. She then decided to invite others to come with - the more the merrier and cheaper was the thought. So Carrie came and after some convincing Cassie came too. It was a fun quick little trip. Just the right amount of hiking, not enough sleep and lots of laughs. We left Salt Lake after I got home from work on Friday April 18th and we drove to Green River where we stayed at motel 6 ( I think it was) for the night. Sarah was good and booked ahead which was a good thing because the placed was packed and all of Moab and Green River were booked. Who knew it would be such a popular weekend - with the occasional cute guy I will add. We were kinda tired from the long drive which with the getting pulled over, hitting a already dead but huge deer ( I thought for sure we were going to pop a tire) and singing dramatically at the top of our lungs to help Sarah stay awake, one could understand. So the next morning we got up and drove about an hour to Arches. It was fun because it was Sarah's first time there and Cassie's 2nd but her first time to Delicate arch. If I am going somewhere I have already been before I always love to go with someone who hasn't. It adds so much excitment to the trip. First we stopped off at just some rock landmarks and took pic
tures and then we did the hike to Delicate Arch. After that we did just a little hike to Sand dune arch and Broken arch. Both of which I amazingly enough don't remember ever going to before, so even though I have been to Arches a few times before I still saw someplace new. After a day of hiking, sun, and most of all lots and lots of wind, (we really got sandblasted in a few places) we were ready to call it a day and go. We went into Moab and had dinner at Zac's pizza place. It was good. Then the long drive home. A few of us took turns driving and sleeping. All in all it was a great trip. Cassie was prepared and brought cards for the road but the best part - the part that had me laughing the hardest I had laughed in a long time (up to that point) was just a simple conversation with Cassie gone wrong. Which I would share but it just wouldn't have the same effect. Cassie be careful next time I just might want to see :-)
